Holger Wirz has worked for over 20 years in the field of automation design for various industries, including optoelectronics, biomedical, photovoltaic, and high-volume fabrication of consumer products. His expertise is in the mechanical design of complex, intricate instruments and machines, such as a fiber-optic coil winder, an optical circuit assembly system, an automatic titer plate handler, an automatic wafer fabricator for photovoltaic applications, an automated system for plant-based pharmaceutical production, and many more.
As a Program Manager at Fraunhofer USA CMI, he co-leads the custom automation group with David Chargin. He specializes in systems engineering and integration of custom and OEM components to meet complex manufacturing needs. He continues to lead highly competent project teams to successful completion.
Holger Wirz received his German diploma in mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University, one of the top engineering universities in Europe.
